Lil Jon has been expanding his philanthropic efforts outside of the U.S. for some time now. His most recent venture was breaking ground on what will shortly be his second school in Ghana.
The rapper partnered with Pencils of Promise, a nonprofit dedicated to providing education to children.
His first Ghanaian school opened in 2017, and was dedicated to his late mother. However, the rapper stated his goal was always to fund two schools, not just one. The plan was to get the first one up and running before turning his attention to the second.
“Rappers blow so much money on frivolous things sometimes and I think we can take some of that [otherwise thrown away money], and use it for some good in communities,” he said in a statement to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Hopefully others will follow Lil Jon’s example in using their wealth to make a positive impact!
