VEU- Tell us how you got started in the entertainment field :

I asked my parents for a year to put me into acting.  I had my first audition and booked it at the age of 7.  I was initially a featured extra in Tyler Perry’s If Loving You is Wrong.  I played the daughter of a principal character.  For season two, he bumped me up to a recurring role!  Thankfully, I have been working since that time.
VEU- In the new movie “The Hate You Give,” you play the role of Young Star. Tell us about that.
I was so excited when I found out that I booked the role.  Starr is such a strong and powerful character.  I really wanted to do my part in bringing this wonderfully written story to life.  One of my scenes, “The Talk”, was really intense.  Russell Hornsby is an amazing actor so he was able to tap into our true emotions.  This movie is great!  I am so happy to be a part of it.
VEU- Did this role have any resemblance to your actual life?
I think that this role resembles the life of many African Americans.  I hope that the audience leaves with a better understanding of how these types of stories affect the entire community.
VEU-How do you balance being ab 11-year-old entertainer, and your school/ social life ?
My mom does a really great job at making sure that I still have time to hangout with my friends.  I have had some of the same friends for a very long time.  They support me in my projects but then we just go back to having fun!
VEU- What upcoming projects are you working on?
I just filmed a movie called Troupe Zero slated for release in 2019.  It stars Viola Davis, Mike Epps, Allison Janey, and McKenna Grace.  There were so many kids on set and we had a blast!
VEU- What advice do you had for other young people that want to get into the entertainment field?
Submit and Forget!!  You will hear no way more that you will hear yes!  Work on your craft so when the time comes you will be ready
